"Light to Guide" 30"x40" Mixed Media painting on stretch canvas. Artist: Carrie Beth Collins.
This painting is one of my favorites for many reasons, but especially because it reminds me of Meatloaf’s “Bat out of Hell” album cover, which was a big part of my childhood and simpler days. The words for this piece came to me after etching the word “truth” in wet paint (upper right corner). It made me laugh when I noticed that the white paint dripping down looked like bird poo. It’s like seeing truth through all of the “poo” in the world. Finding your own truth, letting it guide you, and being set free by it.
Founded in 1999, APA is an all volunteer, no-kill rescue for homeless cats and kittens. APA has no paid staff. They are staffed by highly committed, unpaid volunteers, located in Jeffersonville, Indiana. They rely solely on fund-raising events, donations, sales from their thrift shop, and from the kindness of their own volunteers pockets. They truly are a bright spot in the lives of so many animals and to our local community.
A little over a year ago, I decided to raffle off my first large scale painting for the shelter where I adopted my fur kids. I learned a lot and was able to raise almost $550 for the animals. This year I am excited to offer another ORIGINAL artwork for the sake of the kitties. This painting is part of a series of paintings I made after a particularly difficult time in my life. The process of painting was healing to me during that time. I'm using these paintings to pass on some of the healing, peace, and comfort that I received from making them.
Raffle tickets are $5 each. All profits go directly to the APA shelter animals. Purchase your ticket online by clicking the link. One winner gets the Original 30"x40" mixed media painting "Light to Guide". Open to USA residents only. Good luck!
